August
2006
Welcome to the inaugural issue of my newsletter. I promise to keep it
brief!
My first novel, Lost Dog, is slated for release April 2007. As publication
gets closer, I will have more news. For now, I can tell you I'd had a sneak
peak at the cover, and I just love it. Alas, it won't be available
for to share until October.
The Killer Year 2007
One of the most exciting things to happen so far this year is my addition
to the Killer Year Class of 2007.
The Killer Year is group of mystery and
thriller writers all with debut novels coming in 2007. This is an amazing
group of gifted writers, and I encourage you to visit their websites and
get to know them. The first Killer Year books will be out in January,
and will appear throughout 2007. You've got over a dozen wonderful
books to read all lined up for you next year. Enjoy!
2006 Kay Snow Writing Award
On Saturday evening, August 5th, I had the great privilege of receiving
an Honorable Mention for Adult Fiction in the 2006 Kay
Snow Writing Contest for an excerpt from my current work-in-progress, tentatively
titled Death With Dignity. Learn more about the Kay
Snow Writing Contest. This contest is administered through the Willamette
Writers and given annually at the Willamette Writers Conference. I'm thrilled
to have received this honor.
Writing and Stuff
Currently
I am deep into the first draft of my next effort, a novel featuring detective
Skin Kadash from Lost Dog. So far, it's been through half a dozen
working titles, so these days I'm calling it Whatever It's Called. (Catchy,
eh?)
I also have begun a blog, musings about writing or whatever comes to
mind several times a week. Please stop by and say hello.
Upcoming Events
In September, I'll be travelling to Madison, Wisconsin to attend BoucherCon
2006. Then in February, I'm on my way up I-5 to Seattle for Left
Coast Crime 2007.

as well as come to terms with his own grim history, are aided and hindered
by a cast of unusual and richly drawn characters, including Darla, the
