photoThe last few weeks I've been working with my editor at Midnight Ink, Karl Anderson on Lost Dog. It's been an enlightening experience, fascinating and at times humbling. Karl has been great, catching all kinds of little issues and a few bigger ones. I feel like the novel is improving greatly under his guidance. In the next few days, I will be looking at the printed author proofs and (hopefully) making further improvements.

Spinetingler Cozy Noir Contest

The Winter 2006 Issue of Spinetingler just landed, and I'm very pleased to announce that it includes my short story, "A Tall House," winner of Spinetingler's Cozy Noir Contest. I'm in wonderful company, both among the Cozy Noir Finalists and the other great writers featured in this issue!

about Lost Dog

photoPeter McKrall, goes to the park early one morning to find his niece's lost toy dog. He doesn't realize his search is being watched by the paranoid killer of the dead hooker he finds instead. Peter's efforts to stay out of the cross hairs of both the police and the killer, as well as come to terms with his own grim history, are aided and hindered by a cast of unusual and richly drawn characters, including Darla, the bitter, broken daughter of the dead prostitute, Skin Kadash, sardonic homicide detective, and Ruby Jane Whittaker, lively and eccentric mistress of coffee.
