photoThe big day for Lost Dog is fast approaching. Word on the street is the Amazon is promising delivery earlier than expected, but if you're a brick-and-mortar bookstore fella like me, Lost Dog will be available in early April. If your favorite store doesn't have a copy in stock, they can order one for you.

Be sure to write and let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you!

You can now read an excerpt from Lost Dog here.

Upcoming Events

I've got some appearances planned in April.

April 21 mark my first Seattle appearance at Seattle Mystery Bookshop. I'll be signing copies of Lost Dog starting at noon.

April 29 marks my Portland debut at Murder by the Book, 3210 SE Hawthorne, starting at 5:00 pm.

More appearances are in the works, in Hood River, Oregon, Olympia, Washington, and beyond. I'll also be making a trip to Phoenix late in May. Check out my events page for updates and new events as I add them.

InkSpot, the Midnight Writers

On March 21st, be sure to check out the debut of InkSpot, a group blog by Midnight Ink Books authors. There will be new posts each weekday on an array of topics, including mystery and suspense, the writing process, and more. Midnight Ink has published a diverse and talented group of authors, and InkSpot looks to be a great destination in the blogosphere.

Writing News

I am working hard on a fresh draft of my follow-up to Lost Dog. The title continues to be as much a work-in-progress as the novel itself, but current lead candidates are Oblivion of Hummingbirds and Chasing Smoke. You can read an early draft of chapter one here.

about Lost Dog

photoPeter McKrall is at a crossroads—out of work, fighting a klepto habit, and trying to figure out his next move. Life takes an unexpected turn when a search for his niece’s stuffed dog leads him to something else entirely: a bullet-riddled corpse. Talking to reporters lands Peter on the local news, which turns out to be a dangerous spotlight. And now Darla, the troubled daughter of the victim, is reaching out to him—but can she be trusted? When a second murder takes place and evidence is planted in his trash, the cops dredge up Peter’s painful history. The only ray of sunshine in this harrowing nightmare is Ruby Jane, whose warm smile melts the winter chill.

An unwitting player in a bizarre chain of events, Peter has no idea that the deranged killer is after him—until he takes a shot at Ruby Jane.

Lost Dog, a novel of suspense, coming April 2007 from Midnight Ink Books.
